Semi-canon route.
After the game, Dirk built himself a house and set up a workshop where he builds battlebots for himself to strife with, to be used on his television show Rumble in Da Pumpkin Patch starring himself and Jake English, and for private use for anyone who puts in orders. He's somewhat of a recluse whenever he isn't personally working on or participating in things that have to do with the television show and rarely leaves his house. When he goes out it's probably to get groceries or visit someone if he's feeling particularly fussed with gracing them with his presence.
Ever since the game ended he's been deeply entrenched in his own depression. His struggle with his own personality, with missing a relationship he's accepted full responsibility for ruining, and with living in an idle and quiet space after so many years of silence before the game has made him more neurotic than before - in some cases in completely new ways.
He's well known for blowing off his personal responsibilities outside of his house at this point. Especially social responsibilities.

Karkat Vantas
Dirk's former boyfriend. What could've been a tentative friendship has quite possibly been squandered. That's a relationship that may be repaired, but their romantic one was an unmitigated mess. Despite that, he really wants things to be okay between them again. Even footing has been scarce recently, though.
Hal - 'Deimos'
He was met at just the right time. He'd been rapidly getting more and more stir crazy with his house empty, and Deimos needed a softer guiding hand than his previous Dirk. Once still clinging to his ironic moniker of "Hal", Dirk gave him a new name. One that suits him and his whole general vibe.
